José Andres nominated for 2019 Nobel Peace Prize
We wanted to share some good news about one of our favorite customers.
Jose Andrés has a new distinction to add to his already remarkable resumé.
In addition to “Time’s 100 Most Influential People” and “Outstanding Chef” by the Beard Foundation, Michelin Award Winner, and all around awesome dude, he can now add Nobel Peace Prize Nominee.
He’s been nominated for his humanitarian work with World Central Kitchen and his efforts to feed millions of people in the wake of disaster in places like Puerto Rico, Northern California, and the border – to name a few.
He was nominated by Democratic Rep. John Delaney of Maryland who wrote in his nomination:
Because of Mr. Andrés’s work, millions of people have been fed. This is the most basic human need and Mr. Andrés has proven to be world-class in this essential humanitarian field. With an incredible spirit and an innovative mind, Mr. Andrés is solving one of the world’s ancient problems and supplying world leaders with a new road map to provide more effective disaster relief in the future.
Andres recently published a book titled, “We Fed an Island” about the work of World Central Kitchen in Puerto Rico. You can check it out here.
Congrats José!
